What is Shockvoice?

Shockvoice is a voice-over-ip communication tool similar to Teamspeak but slightly different in its features. It's implemented in C# and therefore runs on almost any platform of interest, be it windows, unix, macintosh or solaris. Teamspeak direct competitor, this program combines the strengths of Teamspeak and Mumble.
It has the sound quality and speed of transmission of Mumble and ease of use of Teamspeak.
In our opinion best choice for any gamer!

What is the difference to other voice tools? Some of the features that Shockvoice has or are beeing implemented now are:

* Low latency.
* Completely administratable from the client.
* Flexible and easy to use permissions management.
* Pluginsystem to make it possible for people to extend both server and client with new features.
* Integrated Chat * Send voicemail to currently offline people for them to check out later.
* Whiteboard makes it possible to draw onto a map and have it synchronized with other people in the channel

warchant-gaming has switched our mumble server to shockvoice server in Croatia. Server is hosted at Diabolic-Servers.Com.
You are feel free to join it with next login details.

BASHandSlash release disturbing news regarding MW2

Earlier today BASHandSlash.com released some disturbing news for all Call of Duty players awaiting the release of Modern Warfare 2, the multiplayer in particular. Although Infinity Ward Community Manager Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling did confirm the game will be released on time, his interview on the BASHandSlash webcast has lead to a massive discussion on the future of the Call of Duty series.

According to the webcast, Infinity Ward are working on a backend called IW.net to make the game more accessible to everyone. As a consequence, it is suggested there will be no dedicated servers and it could also mean there will be no room for Promod, unless IW add it to IW.net.

In addition, VAC will be used as anti-cheat instead of Punkbuster.

Yock Yitch from BASHandSlash.com summarized things as follows:

General
- IW partnering through Steam is what you will see in the future. Matchmaking is not through Steam, but IW.NET is run in conjunction with Steam.
- GSP's will no longer be renting out servers.
- No PunkBuster. VAC will be used as an anti cheat.
- Retail distribution: Pre-orders will get a disk. Or you could order from Steam.
- DLC may now need to be paid for - not confirmed.
- Piracy was only a small reason for going to IW.NET - not the whole reason.

Clans
- No more clan servers. Private matches, replace clan servers.
- Listen servers will connect to each other.
- IW.NET/Steam will replace the community server admin

Competitive Gaming
- Competitive gaming has changed forever.
- It might be possible in the future for IW engineers to load a "competitive" setting on IW.NET, but it is far from a guarantee. It might also never happen.

Modding
- Modding the game is now very much in question. Fourzerotwo had no info on modding. However, it appears that there will be no mods or maps for MW2.
- Modding in SpecOps? Unknown.
